Tags will give you an alternative way to group your items, so it's easier to search for items across your inventory. For example, your folders could be created based on location, but if you want to see your items based on brand or color, you could add those as tags and view your items in the Tags section of the App.

Adding tags
Tags can be added in several ways:
-
Via the ‘Add Tag' button on the 'Tags’ page
-
By typing new tags in the 'Tags' field in the Add Item or Add Folder screen
-
By typing new tags in the 'Tags' field on the Edit Item or Edit Folder screen
-
Through Quick import and Advanced import
Adding a tag directly to an item will not only create the tag for all items and also link that tag to the specific item:
Adding a tag in the Tags menu will add the tag to your account, but it won't be associated with any specific items.
From this view, you can also review all of your tags and remove tags from your system. If you remove a tag from the tags section, it will keep the item, but it will remove the tag on all items it was previously associated with. Once a tag is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
You can also view the transactions in the activity history for the actions performed on tags (for example, create, update, delete, added, and removed).
Deleting or Editing Tags
If you ever want to edit existing tags, you can do so by hovering over the tag and click on the pencil tool to edit the tag:
If you ever want to delete an existing tag, you can do so by hovering over the tag and clicking on the trashcan icon to delete the tag:
Please note: at this time, you are not able to delete tags in bulk.
Exporting Items with Tags
You can export items with tags easily from the Tags Tab in the same way you would from other tabs.
Start by clicking the Tags tab and selecting a tag(s) for which you would like to generate a report.
Then, click the items one by one until you've selected all the items you want to export. You can also select one item and then choose Select All from the dropdown in the Bulk Action bar:
From there, select Export, and you'll be able to export the list to a CSV/Excel, PDF, or Dropbox:

Managing Tags on the Mobile App
Tags can also be managed from the Sortly mobile app by going to the Hamburger tab in the app and then selecting 'tags'. This will then pop up all of the tags that are currently connected to your account, and you will then be able to make adjustments to the existing tags or see what items are linked with each tag.
You can see an example of that here:
