Sortly IDs are unique identifiers automatically assigned to every item in Sortly, similar to SKU numbers, that help the system accurately track identical items across different folders.

What Are the Benefits of Sortly IDs?

Sortly IDs make managing and searching for your items faster and more accurate, powering better search, filter, and sort results, along with a more reliable activity history. They also lay the foundation for integrating Sortly with external systems.

How Sortly IDs Affect Moving and Merging Items

Sortly IDs (SIDs) power Smart Move, an upgraded move experience that reduces manual errors and duplication when moving items between folders.

You no longer need to choose ""merge"" when moving items. Sortly automatically merges similar items, but keeps items separate (while retaining the Sortly ID) if it detects a difference in details like notes, images, or price.

Moving out all of an item's stock? Enable the zero quantity setting in your preferences panel to leave the item in its folder with 0 quantity instead of removing it.

How Do I Hide Sortly IDs?

Follow the steps below to hide Sortly IDs on your desktop or mobile app.

Desktop

  1. Navigate to the All Items page
  2. Click the hamburger menu on the right to open your view options
  3. Change to List view
  4. Toggle Hide SID on or off

Mobile

  1. Tap Items on the bottom menu bar
  2. Tap the three dots in the top right
  3. Tap Filter
  4. Toggle Hide SID on or off
  5. Click Apply
