FAQ

How can I ensure that my scanner is set to US Keyboard mode and configured properly to work with Sortly?

You will need to ensure that your scanner is set to US Keyboard mode. Each scanner will have a manual that contains special barcodes that configure the scanner. You will want to look for the one that sets the keyboard emulation to "US Keyboard" or "US ASCII". You will then want to scan that code to set it on your reader, allowing it to work with Sortly.

Can I use a scanner that is labeled 1D?

If you are scanning QR codes, please ensure you are using a 2D scanner. 1D scanners typically only read barcodes.

Why does my keyboard disappear when I'm using the handheld scanner?

The Bluetooth scanner will (by default) replace your keyboard when you enable Bluetooth scanning.

To bring back the keyboard, you must perform an action on your handheld scanner to activate the keyboard (for most scanners, it is a double tap or multi-tap on the scan trigger). Please check the instructions provided by your scanner manufacturer to see how it works on your scanner.

Why does my scanner's scan function switch to the camera instead of using the built-in infrared scanner?

Smart Scanners will not have the option to use the device's built-in scanner. When scanning, it will default to the mobile app's scanner, which uses the device's camera. Therefore, you will need to ensure that your smart scanner has a built-in camera.

I've enabled Bluetooth Scanning; why is the scanner not working?

Enabling Bluetooth scanning on the Sortly Mobile app does not assist/enable in connecting your scanner to your device. It will only allow you to perform searches/actions once the scanner is connected.

How do I disable Bluetooth Scanning on my Mobile device?

Bluetooth scanning will remain enabled across the app until you have explicitly disabled it. You can disable it by clicking the gear icon and toggling 'Enable Bluetooth scanning' off.
