# Add, Import, and Edit Addresses

Set up the addresses your company uses for shipping, billing, and purchase orders, so they are ready whenever you need them. You can add each address by hand on web or mobile, or bring in a whole list from a file on web. This article walks you through adding an address manually, importing addresses from a file, and editing an address.

### How Addresses Work

Addresses are your company's own locations, such as an office, a warehouse, or a branch. You manage them in one list, and Sortly uses them for shipping, billing, and purchase orders. On web, find them under Setup. On mobile, find them in the Menu tab.

When you add an address, you can also choose to use it as the default for Primary, Shipping, or Billing. Those labels show with the address in the list, so you can see which address is the default for each.

You will use these addresses on purchase orders. To learn more, see [Restock List Overview](https://help.sortly.com/sb/restock-list-overview?hsLang=en) and [Create a Purchase Order](https://help.sortly.com/sb/creating-a-purchase-order?hsLang=en).

### Add an Address Manually

Prefer to add addresses one at a time? Entering an address by hand works well when you only have a few, and you can do it on both web and mobile.

#### On web

1

Select Setup at the bottom of the left menu.

2

Select Addresses under Configure.

### Import Addresses from a File

Already keep your addresses in a spreadsheet? On web, upload the file and Sortly Assistant reads it and works out which columns hold the name, address, city, and so on. You review the results before anything is added.

1

Select Setup at the bottom of the left menu, then select Addresses under Configure.

2

Select New Address, then select Upload from a file.

3

Choose the file from your computer.

4

Sortly Assistant opens with your file attached and starts working. When it finishes, it lists the addresses it found under Here are the addresses I found.

5

Look over the list. Rows that look like a duplicate of another row or of an address you already have, or that are missing required fields, are highlighted and start unselected. Select any highlighted row you still want to add.

6

Select Create selected to add the selected addresses. To fix or remove rows first, select Suggest edits and tell Sortly Assistant what to change.

Sortly Assistant confirms how many addresses it created, and they appear in your Addresses list.
