# Add and Edit Customers
Easily add customers to your Sortly account to keep track of the people and businesses you do jobs for. Once a customer is added, you can select them whenever you create a job, so you never have to re-enter their details. This article walks you through adding a customer, updating their name, and deleting a customer you no longer work with.

### How customers work
You can find all of your customers in one list at Setup \> Customers. Each customer has a name, and you choose a customer when you create a job. Use the Search customers... box to find someone quickly in the list.

### Add a customer
In the left sidebar, select Setup, then Customers. Select New customer, type the customer's name in the Name field, and select Create customer.
💡 Use the same naming style for every customer, such as adding "(Residential)" after a homeowner's name. It makes the list easier to scan and search.

### Edit a customer
You can rename a customer at any time. When you rename a customer, every job linked to them shows the new name, including past jobs.
On the Customers page, find the customer and select the three-dot menu at the end of their row, then choose Rename. Update the Name field in the Rename customer window, and select Save changes.
⚠️ A rename applies to all of that customer's jobs, past and current, so check the spelling before you save.

### Delete a customer
If you no longer work with a customer, you can delete them from the Customers page. Select the three-dot menu at the end of their row, then choose Delete. Sortly asks you to confirm in a Delete customer? window before anything is removed. Select Delete customer to finish.
🗑️ Deleting a customer can't be undone. The customer can no longer be picked for new jobs, and every job for that customer is left with no customer name. The removal appears in each job's activity, but not in the Activity History report.
### Frequently Asked Questions
Does renaming a customer change my past jobs?
Yes. Every job linked to that customer shows the new name, including past jobs.
Can I undo deleting a customer?
No. Deleting a customer can't be undone. If you need them again, add them as a new customer.
What happens to a customer's jobs if I delete the customer?
Every job for that customer is left with no customer name, and the customer can no longer be picked for new jobs.
Where can I see that a customer was removed from a job?
Open the job, go to Job details, and select the Activity tab. The removal is recorded there. It does not appear in the Activity History report.
