# Move Stock to Another Location

Keep track of where your stock actually is by moving it from one location to another as it changes hands, such as from your main warehouse to a service van. Your total quantity stays the same, and each location shows what it holds. This article walks you through moving stock, choosing a reason, and checking the result on the Locations tab.

### How moving stock works

Moving stock changes where your units are, not how many you have. The quantity leaves the location you moved it from and shows up in the location you moved it to.

For example, say you have 8 boxes in your main location. You move 2 boxes to Van 1. Your main location now holds 6 boxes, Van 1 holds 2 boxes, and you still have 8 boxes in total.

In the Move stock window, you fill out:

- Quantity to move: use the plus and minus buttons or type a number. Select Move all to move everything that is available.
- Move to: the location the stock is going to. Search by name, or expand a location to find the one you need.
- Reason and Note: both are optional. Add them so your team knows why the stock moved.

### See where your stock is

After you move stock, the item's Locations tab shows every location that holds it.

1

Open the item, then select the Locations tab in the Item details panel.

2

Review the list. It shows how many locations hold the item, the total available, reserved, and on order, and the quantity in each location. The location you are viewing is marked This location.
