Already have barcodes or QR codes on your inventory? Connect them to your Sortly items by scanning each code in the Sortly mobile app. Once linked, scanning a code takes you straight to the item, making it faster to find, update, and track your inventory.
This feature is included on all Sortly plans at no additional cost.
Linking is done in the Sortly mobile app on iOS or Android.
1Tap the item and choose Link QR / Barcode
2Scan the existing code and tap Link
Once linked, scanning the code with the Sortly app opens the item directly. You can also use an external QR or barcode scanner connected to your device.
💡 Printed a batch of unlinked QR labels before adding your items? Use the steps above to connect each label to the right item or folder. To learn how to print labels ahead of time, see Can I Print QR Labels Before Adding Items to Sortly?
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my own weatherproof labels?
Yes! If you need specialized material labels such as waterproof or high-durability labels or asset tags, we suggest ordering them through our trusted partners at camcode.com.
Can I scan any item?
Absolutely! Sortly can scan a wide range of items, including those with preexisting inventory codes, and works with third-party scanners.
Is this available on web and mobile?
Linking QR codes and barcodes is available on the Sortly mobile app for iOS and Android devices only.
What if the scanned results don't match my item?
Sortly connects with Amazon and eBay databases to offer you the most accurate results. If the results do not match your item, it's likely that the item is not found through Amazon or eBay. If this occurs, you can either rescan the item or retain the original barcode and manually enter the item details.
Can I still manually add items even if the results are inaccurate?
Yes, you have the option to manually add item details, even if the scanning results are inaccurate.
Are there any additional costs associated with this scanning feature?
No, this feature is available at no additional cost and is included in all of Sortly's existing plans.
