For business users (Advanced, Ultra, Enterprise, and Pro Legacy), you can create items with a unique unit of measurement or partial quantities (ending in decimals).
Please note: Currently, units of measure can only be added to new items created within Sortly. You will not be able to update existing items to have a different unit of measurement or partial quantity associated with it.
Understanding Units of Measure
Units of measure allow you to track items with varying measurement types (lbs, grams, feet, meters, etc). Sortly currently supports the following units of measure:
- unit
- pound (lb)
- kilogram (kg)
- gram (g)
- ounce (oz)
- yard (yd)
- foot (ft)
- inch (in)
- meter (m)
- centimeter (cm)
- gallon (gal)
- milliliter (ml)
- liter (l)
- square feet (sq ft)
- square inch (sq in)
- cubic feet (cu ft)
- cubic inch (cu inch)
Highlights for Units of Measure:
- You can utilize different measurement types on different items.
- The units of measure available will be shown on a dropdown. Unfortunately, you cannot add unique units of measurement at this time, but please reach out if there is a unit of measurement you frequently use that's not included.
- The measurement you select for that item will be shown across your Sortly pages, including dashboard, activity history, available as a field when exporting reports, and on the item itself.
Adding Units of Measure:
From the web app, click the + icon on the top right-hand side of the screen and select "add item". You will then be taken to the add item screen, where you can input details for the item, as seen in the image below.
For users creating new items for their inventory, the dropdown next to quantity will appear. You can select a unit of measurement you'd like to utilize for that item.
Understanding Partial Quantities
Sometimes, you need to measure items when a fraction, decimal, or part of the whole unit is used. You can achieve this in Sortly using partial quantities.
You can also set alerts to notify you when a partial quantity threshold is hit.
Please note: The 'Unit' measurement cannot support partial quantities at this time.
Adding Partial Quantities:
From the web, click the + icon on the top right-hand side of the screen and select "add item". You will then be taken to the add item screen, where you can input details for the item, as seen in the image below.
For users creating new items for their inventory, you will have the opportunity to enter a quantity with up to four decimal places included.
Moving Partial Quantities:
Not only can you add items in partial quantities, but you can move parts of an item's whole.
