Cloning an item with a unique SID gives each box, roll, or piece its own QR code, so you can scan and track units individually instead of treating them as one shared quantity.

When to use this method
This method is best if you need item-level traceability, so every unit is scanned and tracked on its own instead of as part of a shared count.
Step 1: Create the base item
1Go to your Sortly inventory.
2Create a new item (example: Box of Work Gloves).

3Set the Unit of Measure to Box, Roll, or whatever matches your item.
Step 2: Clone the item for each piece
1Select the base item.

2Click Clone.

3Toggle Generate unique SID for each clone. This gives each clone its own unique identifier in Sortly.
4Repeat for however many items you received.
Because each clone has a different SID, its QR code is unique too:
